FAQs

Questions leadership teams ask before they engage.

What does Essential Cognition do?

Essential Cognition sends agents into your organization to gather what its people know: where the work is, where it stalls, where AI already helps and where it could. It puts that in one place, analyses it against what is happening in your industry, and brings it back to your leadership team as the basis for an AI strategy. Two engagements: the three-day AI Executive Strategy Workshop and the six-month fractional Chief AI Officer program. The same agents run our own business every day.

What happens in the AI Executive Strategy Workshop?

Before day one, the agents gather from every team. Then three days on site with your leadership team: the state of the organization in one structured picture; the outlook for your industry, where models, costs, platforms and business models are heading; the questions worked through together, priorities, architecture, security, cost, with the context to decide them afterwards; and a live demonstration of our own autonomous agent swarm, used as the reference and teaching tool throughout. Everyone leaves on the same picture, able to judge the options, with the foundation of an executive AI strategy and its first steps. The decisions stay yours.

What do the agents collect before the workshop, and how?

What each team works on, where it stalls, where AI already helps, which ideas and obstacles people see. Each person chooses the way: a short form, a conversation with an agent, or an e-mail exchange; a few minutes each. The agents consolidate the answers across divisions and departments into one picture, with the patterns and the contradictions. The material stays in a space of your own and is governed by the engagement agreement.

Is the agent swarm built or installed during the workshop?

No. Our swarm is demonstrated and used as the working reference: its decisions, trade-offs and failure points show what can be done and what has to be decided. Nothing is built in three days. Agents go into your organization in the program, where the work shows it is ready.

What is the fractional Chief AI Officer program?

Six months, fractional, across the whole organization, $100,000. At the end of month six: the assessment of every division and department, kept current by the agents through the program; the AI strategy and roadmap, board-ready; architecture and vendor choices, decided and documented; pilots running, people trained, change management in place. A continuous program on the agent-led baseline, and a strategy your teams can build on.

Who runs the engagements?

Bert Kastel, founder of Essential Cognition, with the agents. As a serial entrepreneur, he brings decades of experience in multiple waves of transformative technologies, from enterprise software to AI and robotics; for over 30 years he has run startups and businesses providing services and solutions for Global 2000 customers. He is the author of Regime Change (2024) and Techtonic Shifts (2022). He is in the room for the three days and leads the program.

What does it cost?

The workshop is $50,000, including the agent-led assessment beforehand and the three days on site. The program is $100,000 for six months. Both are fixed prices; what is included is written in the engagement agreement. Deploying agents in your organization beyond the program is scoped on request.

What happens with our data?

What the agents gather belongs to you and stays in a space of your own. It is not used for other clients and not used to train models. Access, retention and deletion are set in the engagement agreement; the website itself sets no cookies and runs no tracking.

Which organizations is this for?

Organizations from about fifty people to several thousand, in industry, logistics, services, software and energy, whose leadership team has to decide on AI now: what to automate, what to build or buy, where agents and later robots belong, and what it costs. If an AI strategy is due this year, this is for you.

How is this different from an AI training course, a consultant, or a fractional CAIO from elsewhere?

Three things: it starts from what your organization actually knows, gathered by agents before anyone sits in a room; it is run by people who operate an autonomous agent swarm every day, not by people who read about it; and the decisions stay with your leadership team, who leave with the context to make them. The comparison page sets each alternative next to it.

Where does Frontier Tech Intelligence come in?

Frontier Tech Intelligence is the public output of the same swarm: 100+ sources in eleven languages read daily, 2,000+ companies scored, four leaderboards, twenty standing questions. In the workshop it supplies the industry outlook; in the program it keeps your strategy current; its members read it on their own.

How do we start?

Write to us through the contact form. A thirty-minute call settles scope and dates; the agent-led assessment starts two to three weeks before the workshop; the workshop is three consecutive days on site.
